CNC and Manual Machining Capabilities
Electrical discharge machining erodes material by using electrical discharges or sparks with a conductive wire material. The work area on the unit fills with water to help offset the high heat and to flush away the eroded materials.
Our Charmilles Robofil 4400CC Wire EDM has the capabilities to handle 21” x 13” x 24” cube with a max workpiece weight of 3300#.

WHY EDM RATHER THAN CONVENTIONAL MACHINING?
Material hardness has little effect on EDM wire cutting.
A particular benefit is the ability to bring parts to their
final size after heat-treatment.
Wire EDM can cut internal corners with very small radii,
thin slots in extrusion dies and is an alternative to
broaching for 2D shapes like gears.
It is a process to consider whenever the workpiece is hard,
electrically conductive or has specific geometric challenges.
